Meet Luka
Luka is a happy-go-lucky, low-key guy with a playful streak and a heart of gold. Estimated to be 1–2 years old and about 48 pounds, Luka came into rescue as a stray and has quickly shown what an easy, adaptable companion he is.
He’s social and easygoing with other dogs (about an 8/10 on the tolerance scale). He greets dogs submissively, then happily joins in play—sometimes forgetting he’s not as big as he thinks he is. He’d be perfectly content as an only dog or with a playful canine friend.
Luka is laid-back, unfazed by strangers, loud noises, or new situations. He walks well on a leash, rides calmly in the car (including long trips), and settles nicely in a crate when left alone. He’s quiet—rarely barks—and would do well in an apartment, condo, or house.
House training is going very well (around 90%). He lets you know he needs to go out by standing at the door, though he may have an occasional accident if you’re slow to respond. He’s still learning basic cues and boundaries and can be a bit mouthy when overly excited, so continued gentle training is recommended.
Personality-wise, Luka is playful, funny, and full of charm. He enjoys tug toys, chew toys, and playing with other dogs, but he’s mostly a nap-and-sunshine kind of guy. He loves lounging in sunny spots, follows his people around, and gets a brief burst of playful energy in the early evenings. He enjoys pets but isn’t overly cuddly and prefers sitting at your feet rather than on furniture.
Luka is tolerant of grooming, easy for nail trims, has no known long-term medical issues, and is neutered. He’s currently completing heartworm treatment and doing great. He can manage a few steps but not a full staircase—he’s learned elevators quickly and travels like a pro.
Important note: Luka can get underfoot and may trip someone with balance issues, and older kids are likely a better fit due to occasional mouthiness when excited.
