I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Herman

I'm Available

Meet Herman — a little bulldog with a big heart who is learning how to feel safe in a world that once failed him.

Herman is a survivor of a horrific hoarding case in Alabama, where nearly 180 dogs were discovered living in unimaginable conditions. When he was rescued, Herman was severely malnourished, suffering from intestinal parasites, heartworm-positive, and absolutely terrified—especially of men. He had never known safety, consistency, or love.

In the beginning, everything in Herman’s world was frightening. Simple, everyday experiences were overwhelming, and trust did not come easily. But day by day, with patience and kindness, Herman is learning that he is safe. His confidence is growing, and his gentle spirit is healing.

Despite his past, Herman is very much a puppy at heart—happy, curious, playful, and full of puppy energy. His favorite place in the world is curled up with his foster mom, soaking up the affection he missed for so long. When he’s not snuggling, he enjoys zoomies in the yard, playing with toys, chewing on Benebones, and romping happily with the other dog in his foster home.

Herman is also a wonderfully well-mannered boy. He is non-destructive in the home and is making great progress with potty training. When he gets excited—especially around food—he does the sweetest little twirls and spins that instantly steal hearts.

Herman’s ideal home would include a securely fenced yard for safe play, another dog for companionship and confidence, and a patient, loving adopter—ideally a woman—who understands that while Herman didn’t have the best start in life, he is ready for his happily-ever-after. He deserves a home where he will never again be neglected, abused, or forgotten.

Herman is living proof that courage isn’t about never being afraid—it’s about wagging your tail through it anyway.

Note: Most likely due to his living conditions and starvation prior to rescue, Herman unfortunately exhibits coprophagic behavior (i.e., he's a poop eater).
